ENVIRONMENT & SUSTAINABILITY
TRAVEL AND OFFICE ENERGY USE
Shipley Asia Pacific are proud to reduce our carbon footprint by offsetting the unavoidable carbon emissions of our daily activities and travel with Greenfleet, while we are also working on minimising our overall impact. Since the pandemic, we have extended this to cover all our consultants whether they are working remotely or at our offices.
Greenfleet is a leading not-for-profit environmental organisation committed to protecting our climate by planting and restoring native biodiverse forests to capture carbon emissions and help fight the impacts of climate change. Greenfleet forests are also legally protected for up to 100 years, ensuring they can grow for future generations.
The Greenfleet approach to carbon offsetting and ecosystem restoration continues to be recognised as best practice while many other projects have been shown to deliver little value. In 2022, Greenfleet received endorsements in the Australian Financial Review and from industry experts, including a senior researcher with the Australia Institute’s Climate and Energy Program.
Since 1997, Greenfleet has planted over 10 million trees across over 500 forests in Australia and New Zealand. As they grow, Greenfleet forests absorb carbon emissions, improve soil and water quality, and restore habitat for native wildlife including many endangered species.
PRINTING AND DISTRIBUTION
To reduce resource usage and waste, we have brought in a number of changes over the past three years, including:
- switching to a print-on-demand model for our printed Guides and Playbooks, as well as workshop materials, so we do not waste energy or resources printing, storing, and disposing of unwanted printed paper
- offering e-book versions of the Guides and Playbooks
- providing all workshop materials virtually if that is a customer’s preferred mode
We have selected Kwik Kopy as our printers, as they have extensive recycling and waste policies and processes in place. 80% of Kwik Kopy franchises (including the ones we use) have achieved Sustainable Green Print Certification – the only national print company to achieve this.
Shipley Workshop Packs are produced using recycled materials, recycled waste papers and card wherever possible. The Guides, Work Books, hand outs, and other general printed material are printed on materials that include 30% post-consumer waste, are chlorine free and from a PEFC (Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) certified forest managed in line with the strictest environmental, social and economic requirements.
All of the paper used can be recycled as waste to include in further recycled materials.
In addition, Kwik Kopy recycles its own waste paper, offcuts and chemicals such as ink cartridges.
